Their life goes one everyday without fuss and there's comfort, peace and joy in all that they do.
But are they really really happy?
I guess I'd never know the answer.
I have absolutely no doubt that God is a good God and no matter what we choose, He would still bless and prosper us. However we live in a broken down world and there are so many bad things happening all around us. Lives are lost, children being abandoned and people dying from diseases.
Living a stable, secure life does sound enticing. One doesn't have to worry about what to eat, dress and sleep. There's a constant supply of income and an assurance that you are taken care of.
It all sounds like a good and well thought out plan, until one is being asked, "Where is the God factor?"
In all that one does, where is God? Has God been factored out of the equation? Has God lost His place because one didn't get what he wanted and decides to take things into his own hands?
Nothing wrong desiring a safe, stable and secure life.
But where's God in the plan?
Esau factored God out of his life. Caine ran away from God. Their lives wasn't so bad. They built cities, had kings and all the money that they wanted. But God saw their hearts and their carnal nature.
Jacob received his calling and became Israel. His life wasn't as "perfect" as Esau, but Jacob listened to God and was obedient. Seth and his descendants ran towards God, unlike Caine.
What may seem really "fun" and exciting doesn't mean the best option for me.
Where is God in all that I do, in all that I plan? What is the God factor in my life?
For the longest time possible, I have been denying, avoiding. I wanted out, run away, escape from all these. But I was wrong.
God is a God of second chances. God of new beginnings. Old things have passed away, and He makes all things new.
Doesn't matter what has happened in the past. I am now a new creation and God can and will use me. Doesn't matter what I have been through, He can use those experiences and glorify His name. Doesn't matter what I have done, His blood covers my sins.
But what matters is if I am doing what He wants me to do.
I do not have much to offer, nothing great to sacrifice. All I desire is to have a heart after Jesus. One that is pure.
Its never about me. But its about Him.

Cross of Calvary
I had an interesting dream last night.
I dreamt I was in the mind of Christ as He was being whipped and scorned by the roman soldiers.
I dreamt that He was thinking about me while going through all the physical pain, and He said, "For you, I will go through all these pain and suffering."
I dreamt that He had a smile on His blood stained face as He thought about me, free from sin.
I dreamt that even though I may disappoint and hurt Him from time to time, He still believes in me.
I dreamt that as He's being crucified onto the Cross, He assured me that everything is going to be ok, He's in control.
Jesus had done everything for me. What have I done for Him?
It is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me.
How did Jesus go through all the suffering, and not complain?
He really loves you and me. So much that He laid down His life, just for you and me.
Simple truths, yet so powerful.

Dream
The key to forgetfulness is to recreate your memories.
Its easy to forgive, but the hardest part is usually to forget. You forgive the person, but find it hard to forget what the person did.
While recreating memory may trigger a burst of pain, it leaves a bittersweet effect. A new memory is created.
Over time, the hurts and pains are gone and what's left are the newly created memories, good ones, that tide you through.

Putting God first
Very familiar verse, very commonly used by Christians.
Seek first the Kingdom of God. In all that we do, we seek God first. But we do not just stop at seeking God first, we are to seek righteousness as well.
Seeking first the Kingdom of God means putting God first in your life. In your choices, you choose to put Him above everything else.
You make sacrifices and adjustments so that God gets the priority. But if its between honouring our parents and Church? I believe that's when the righteousness part comes to play.
Yes, we still seek God first, but when its something critical at home and it requires your personal attention, I believe the right thing to do is to attend to your household.
But if its something trivial, like a party, I really believe that adjustments can be made to attend Church Services first.
I like what the Message Bible says "Steep your life in God-reality, God-initative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met"
Righteousness- Morally right, doing what is right, fair and just.
I believe in putting God first and I believe in doing the right things.
Attending Church Service and Cell Group Meetings are vital to Spiritual Growth. Its not just about coming together to meet a bunch of people and have fun together.
Its all about character development and spiritual development.
Through your interaction with members, your character is being challenged. Resist the temptation to gossip about someone else, resist the temptation to ignore those who are different from you.
Take this opportunity to enlarge your heart, to not look inwardly, but to look to the needs of others and to work towards fulfilling their needs.
Its always the easy way out to stay in your comfort zone and do what you love to do. But once you get uncomfortable, you're stepping out, you're growing and developing skills and character. You'll do what you don't like to do and you'll love those who are just so different from you.
So when you have sought after God and His righteousness, all these things will be added to you.
Most people will think of wealth, abundance, material possessions. I believe in financial abundance, but is that what's gonna make you feeling really blessed?
I can be financially blessed, but die without making a single impact on Earth. But if I've made a difference in someone's life, I know most likely its because of my financial abilities.
How can I feed someone, if I can't feed myself?
How can I share the good news of the gospel, when I am suffering and in lack?
Do not worry! Put God first in your life. Stay righteous! God will provide for you and you'll be blessed! There's no losing out when you sacrifice for God.
"So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen."
Will you seek Him first today?

Thoughts
What matters is that
My students gets inspired and motivated to study.
They graduate with good credits, entering a course they desire in ITE, Polytechnics or JC.
They learnt that they are the master of their life and the choices they make today can determine their future.
And they also learn that there's always grace and second chances available for them.
No one's a failure.
